Retired Teacher Challenges Supervisor in Green Oak Township

A retired special education teacher is chaellenging the township supervisor in Green Oak.

Gayle Steele, who has lived in the township for 42 years, taught special education in Whitmore Lake Public Schools from 1977 to 2010.

Gayle Steele is running for Green Oak Township supervisor.

“My career gave me a strong connection with parents and former students, as well as well-rounded administrative experience that would prepare me for the supervisor’s position,” she said.

Steele, a Democrat, said she is running to give voters a choice on Nov. 5.

Steele is a member of the Michigan Education Association. She has two grown children, who both graduated from Whitmore Lake Public Schools, and six grandchildren.

She has a bachelor’s degree in education and a graduate certificate in special education, both from Eastern Michigan University.
