Conway Man Seeks Seat on Township Board
Mike Miller, a Conway township resident for 47 years, is running for a seat on the Conway Township board.
Miller moved to the township in 1977 when he was appointed by Gov. William Milliken to a position with the Department of Labor in Lansing, a position he held for nine years.
Prior to that he had graduated from apprenticeship school and worked as a carpenter from 1959 to 1977. He retired from full time carpentry in 1994 and worked part-time until 2000.
His retirement years were filled with service to the community, including:
— In 2001, he was a Substitute School Bus Driver for Fowlerville Schools.
— From 2002 to 2005, he drove a LETS bus.
— From 2004–2004, he worked with St. Joseph Hospice families and patients.
— From 2018–2020, he and his wife, Loraine, volunteered for the “Lunch Buddies” and “Rockin’ Readers” programs in the Howell Schools, on behalf of the “Big Brothers, Big Sisters Organization.”
— For 5 years, he volunteered as a substitute driver for “Meals on Wheels”, delivering individual meals to the homes of Fowlerville residents requiring nutritional assistance.
— In 2022, he worked as a tabulotor of mail-in ballots for the election for Conway Township.
Miller is the only Democrat running for a trustee position. While there is more than one trustee spot to be filled, Miller’s chances are numerically improved if voters choose to vote only for him.
