A Conway woman who works in the environmental field is running as the Democratic candidate for Livingston County Drain Commissioner.
Heather Hodge works at the Bioeconomy Institute at Michigan State University, where she trains personnel in maintaining and operating analytical instrumentation.
She was born in Livingston County and holds a bachelor’s of science in Environmental Studies and Biology and is currently in pursuit of a master’s of science in Public Health.
In addition to her professional pursuits, she is also a co-founder of a local nonprofit, The Giving Barn Community Outreach, that serves to bridge the critical gap in services to families by connecting them to resources that empower them to live a life of dignity.
“In this role, I have learned skills such as community organizing, nonprofit leadership, creative problem-solving skills, collaborating with local nonprofits, and dispelling myths around poverty, mental health, and trauma through impactful education.” she said.
“I am very excited to venture into the arena of public health sanitation and would welcome the opportunity to serve as your Livingston County drain commissioner.”
